Abstract

The economic prosperity of countries' industries and improving the performance of companies depends on the proper use ofinformation technology. Information technology can be considered a competitive advantage for the company and provides the basisfor dealing with rapid environmental changes. The current research was conducted to investigate and determine the role ofinformation technology on organizational performance through empowerment. In terms of the nature and method of data collection,the research is a descriptive survey, and its purpose is classified as applied research. The statistical population included 180 expertsfrom a regional oil company, and according to the Karjesi and Morgan table, 118 people were selected as a statistical sample bysimple random sampling. Data analysis was done using PLS Smart software. The research results have shown that informationtechnology is effective on organizational performance through the mediating variable of employee empowerment. Therefore, it issuggested that the organizations and their managers effectively use the latest technologies and their capabilities to empower theemployees and, ultimately, the entire organization, formulate appropriate plans and a correct strategy towards taking advantage ofthese facilities.
